Information for current CCSD21 Early Childhood students

Currently enrolled early childhood students, including all Hawthorne and ECDEC students, will receive the 2017-2018 kindergarten registration materials directly from their current teacher. Registration materials for these students should be returned to their current teacher. There is no need for current early childhood families to register separately.

General Kindergarten eligibility information and registration requirements

A child is eligible to attend Kindergarten in the fall of 2017 if the child will be five years old on or before September 1, 2017.

Public Act 84-1430 states that (1) a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate or (2) other governmental documentation of the child’s identity and an affidavit explaining the inability to produce a copy of the certified birth certificate be provided. Additionally, proof of full-time residency within our district is required before a student may begin attending our schools. Other state and local requirements include a physical examination, dental examination, vision examination, appropriate immunizations, and lead screening by a physician.
