Applications to fill Board vacancy accepted through August 23

Topic: Board of Education

School District 21 is now accepting applications to fill the Board of Education vacancy resulting from the resignation of Board Member Pamela Becker Dean. Applications will be accepted through August 23, 2017. Applicants will be invited to interview with current Board members on August 31, 2017.

The individual selected to fill the vacancy will serve on the School Board from the date of appointment to April 2019.

Applicants for the Board vacancy must:

  • be a United States citizen;
  • be at least 18 years of age;
  • be a resident of Illinois and CCSD21 for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment;
  • be a registered voter.

Applicants for the Board vacancy cannot:

  • be a child sex offender;
  • hold another incompatible public office;
  • have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District;
  • be a school trustee;
  • be disqualified from holding civil office by the Constitution or any law of the State or Federal.

The purpose of Community Consolidated School District 21 schools is to provide a learning environment for all students to become life-long learners and productive citizens and its mission is to prepare all students for success. Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban.
