Topic: Board of Education

At its May meeting, the Board of Education received a report from the administration about the feasibility of implementing full-day kindergarten district wide for the 2020-2021 school year. In October 2018, the Board directed the administration to prepare such a study and present it in May 2019. The full text of the report can be accessed here.

It is the administration’s recommendation that the Board adopt a resolution this fall to implement a district wide full-day kindergarten program for students entering kindergarten in fall of 2020.

A component of the referendum passed in November provided the financial resources to prepare the district’s physical spaces for full-day kindergarten. This report takes a comprehensive look at all components needed to program full-day kindergarten district wide in the fall of 2020, such as staffing, transportation, food service, and more.
