Reminder: Masks required at school

We’re in the final countdown to the first days of school and we can’t wait for our students to return!

As a reminder, face coverings are required for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to CCSD21 schools, regardless of vaccination status.

Individuals should choose an appropriate disposable mask or a reusable mask made from two or more layers of fabric. Masks are worn properly when they completely cover the nose and mouth. The mask should fit snugly under the chin and against the sides of one’s face.

In accordance with Illinois Department of Public Health guidance, neck/athletic gaiters, masks made from mesh, lace, or other sheer fabrics, or masks with vents or other holes are not acceptable.

Masks are not effective when hanging from one ear, under one’s nose, or around one’s neck.

To help younger students get accustomed to wearing a face covering, have them take ownership of the process: selecting and laying out their mask the night before school, learning how to put on and remove their mask, and even providing a favorite doll or stuffed animal with a mask, too!
