Q&A
What is one thing about you that few people know?
“I am a very artistic person. Dance was my passion growing up. I spent all my time in a dance studio, watching dance shows, live productions, all of it! I was on my high school’s poms team and Orchesis. I also played the violin for 10 years.”
What skills do you bring to the table?
“I have deep roots in this community and have seen it become what it is today. I am proud of the district I am from and with my children in these schools I can offer a perspective from someone who is living this every single day. I listen open mindedly to all ideas and make sure to fully understand the impact of decisions made.”
Why did you decide to run for the Board?
“As a proud product of this district, I carry the experiences, values and the education that have shaped who I am today. As a parent with children now in the district, I feel deeply connected to its present and future. I have a strong passion for education, not only because it impacts my own family but also because I truly believe that investing in our schools is investing in our future.
When the opportunity arose to fill a vacancy, I knew in my heart this was the right moment for me. I want to give back to the district that gave me so much. I care deeply about our students and about their experiences. They are our future leaders and they deserve a strong foundation, thoughtful leadership and a supportive school system.”
What is your proudest Board achievement(s) so far?
“It is still fairly early in my term, but previous to me being on the board I have been part of BPAC- bilingual parent advisory committee. I believe it is so important to reflect the diverse perspectives of the community we serve.”
What value does the Board bring to the students, the District, & the community?
“The current board has members with various backgrounds, experiences and ideas. It is essential that we have different perspectives when considering decisions that would ultimately impact our community and students. “
What are your goals while serving on the Board?
“I would want my legacy to be known as someone who was a voice for many different members of our community. I want to serve as a representation that all voices matter and that our students deserve high-quality education, a community that they feel safe in and the right tools that will prepare them for their future. I also want our teachers to feel proud to be part of our schools, valued, supported and respected.”
