Q&A

What is one thing about you that few people know?

“When I was younger, I hated to read. I used to love to pick out books and go to the library, but I never wanted to spend time reading them. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I discovered a love of reading.”

What skills do you bring to the table?

“As an experienced elementary school teacher, I bring a lot of educational experience to the table. I understand curriculum and best practices in teaching, but most importantly, I understand the challenges that our educators are encountering on a day-to-day basis in the classroom.”

Why did you decide to run for the Board?

“Since my children started school, I have worked hard to play an active role in their education and participate in the school community. I have served on the PTO for 6 years and 3 of those years were as the PTO President. I always knew that I wanted to run for a position on the school board and I know that my background in education will be an asset to the board.”

What is your proudest Board achievement(s) so far?

“I am proud of the time and effort I have committed, so far, into learning about each of the schools in D21. Since my term is just beginning, I am looking forward to spending more time in each building and continuing to build relationships with the staff.”

What value does the Board bring to the students, the District, & the community?

“Our school board is a group of passionate individuals who are committed to the growth and development of our district and the students that we serve. Each member brings a unique perspective and professional experiences that help us all to approach decisions from multiple angles.”

What are your goals while serving on the Board?

“My main goal is to bring my experience as an educator to the board and advocate for sustainable decisions that are rooted in what’s best for our children. Additionally, I would love to continue to build community and parent engagement, by being an active listener and transparently communicating.”
