Board of Education approves 2020-2021 school calendar

Topic: Board of Education

The Board of Education approved the 2020-2021 school calendar at its January meeting. The first day of school for students in grades 1-8 is Wednesday, August 19. The first day of school for kindergarten and pre-k students is Thursday, August 20.

This calendar reflects an alignment with winter and spring breaks with High School District 214. The first day of school is more in line with previous District 21 calendars; the later-than-usual start of school for the 2019-2020 year was as a result of the scope of construction that was completed during summer 2019.

Also, in an effort to more closely align parent-teacher conferences to the end of the first trimester, be consistent in conference scheduling district wide, and respond to survey feedback, parent-teacher conferences will be held Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24. Students will not be in attendance at all during the week of Thanksgiving, but staff will report on Monday and Tuesday. Daytime and evening conference times will be available.

The 2020-2021 school year calendar is available now.
