The following email was sent to families of CCSD21 8th graders on April 27, 2020. Please contact your school office if you are not receiving emails from School District 21.
Dear parents of CCSD21 8th graders,
As school buildings across the state are closed through the end of the school year and the Governor’s stay at home order extends through the end of May, I’m saddened to share that we will not hold in-person promotion ceremonies this year. We know how important this milestone is and wish we could gather to celebrate our students and send them off to high school with the ceremony they deserve, but unfortunately that won’t be possible this year.
Your child’s teachers and administrators are working hard to create celebratory videos to recognize your child’s hard work and give them a congratulatory send off to high school. Those videos will be shared in June. Keepsake items, like the traditional promotion certificate, ceremony program, and ribbon, will also be provided at the end of the year. Details on pick up of these items will be forthcoming and will coincide with 8th grade Chromebook drop-off after our school year has officially concluded on June 9th.
Promotion gowns have been ordered; while they won’t be used in a promotion ceremony, parents are welcome to pick up their child’s gown to use for pictures and as a keepsake. Principals will be in touch with further details on gown pick-up. If you do not wish to pick up your child’s gown, a refund check will be mailed by the district later in May.

Estimados padres de alumnos de 8º grado de CCSD21:
Como los edificios escolares en todo el estado están cerrados hasta el final del año escolar y la orden de permanencia en el hogar del gobernador se extiende hasta fines de mayo, me entristece compartir que no celebraremos ceremonias de promoción en persona este año. Sabemos lo importante que es este hito y deseamos poder reunirnos para celebrar a nuestros estudiantes y enviarlos a la escuela secundaria con la ceremonia que se merecen, pero desafortunadamente eso no será posible este año.
Los maestros y administradores están trabajando arduamente para crear videos de celebración para reconocer el arduo trabajo de su hijo y enviarles un mensaje de felicitación a la escuela secundaria. Esos videos se compartirán en junio. Los artículos de recuerdo, como el certificado de promoción tradicional, el programa de ceremonia y la cinta, también se proporcionarán al final del año. Los detalles sobre la recogida de estos artículos serán próximos y coincidirán con la entrega de Chromebook para estudiantes de 8º grado después de que nuestro año escolar haya concluido oficialmente el 9 de junio.
Se han ordenado vestidos de promoción; Si bien no se utilizarán en una ceremonia de promoción, los padres pueden recoger el vestido de su hijo para usarlo en fotos y como recuerdo. Los directores se pondrán en contacto con más detalles sobre la recogida del vestido de promoción. Si no desea recoger el vestido de su hijo, el distrito enviará por correo un cheque de reembolso a fines de mayo.
