The Community Consolidated School District 21 Board of Education, during a special meeting on June 23, voted to appoint Cally Genson as the new assistant principal of climate and culture at Holmes Middle School, effective July 1.

Genson joins the district from Cary Community Consolidated School District 26, where she has served as a middle school language arts teacher for the past four years. Before that, she served as an assistant principal and instructional coach in Carpentersville-based Community Unit School District 300.

In recommending her approval, district administrators described Genson as “open-minded, honest, hardworking and a self-starter.” They also highlighted her experience and expertise in restorative practices and social-emotional learning, calling her an “outstanding candidate.”

“I am so excited to begin my journey with Holmes,” Genson said. “Building relationships with students and staff has always been a large part of my identity as a teacher and I really look forward to continuing that in my role as assistant principal. I hope to incorporate the principles of restorative practice as well as help foster a safe and welcoming environment for staff, families, and students. I really look forward to getting to know the school and everyone who makes it great!”
