Vanessa Kim will become the new assistant principal of Twain Elementary School, effective July 1.
The Community Consolidated School District 21 Board of Education on July 18 unanimously approved Vanessa Kim as the new assistant principal for Twain Elementary School, effective July 1.
Kim joins the district from Berwyn South School District 100, where she served as assistant principal at Hiawatha Elementary School. She has also been an elementary classroom teacher in Skokie/Morton Grove School District 69 and in the Chicago Public Schools.
In recommending her approval, district administrators said Kim “values the importance of creating and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders and understands the importance of learning the culture at the school.”
“Her career is marked by a commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive staff culture, promoting diversity and equity, and ensuring every team member feels valued and supported,” said Winnie Clausell, principal of Twain. “Her dedication, knowledge and caring nature make her an asset to our school and our district community.”
“I am beyond excited to join the amazing community of Twain and CCSD21,” Kim said. “I am a lifelong educator and am looking forward to building upon the strengths of Twain to ensure every child and staff member knows they are in a place where they belong and thrive. I am most looking forward to getting to know the students, staff and families on a personal level and building strong, collaborative relationships as a foundation of success for all.”
