CCSD21 schools closed for in-person learning on Friday, Jan. 12

January 11, 2024

Topic: Updates

All schools within Community Consolidated School District 21 will be closed for in-person learning on Friday, Jan. 12. Schools instead will shift to an e-learning day.

A message from Dr. Michael Connolly, superintendent of schools:

“We have been closely monitoring Friday’s winter storm forecast over the last two days.  Based on the most recent data and weather forecasting from the National Weather Service, all CCSD21 schools will be closed to in-person learning and will engage in an E-learning day tomorrow, Friday, January 12, 2024.

The track of this storm is predicting two waves of heavy snowfall and wind that will make travel conditions for both the morning and afternoon commutes difficult and potentially dangerous.  The National Weather Service has upgraded our area to a Winter Storm Warning.

An E-learning day is a full day of learning consisting of both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.  Your child(s) teachers will communicate specific details on tomorrow’s learning activity.

We are also closely monitoring potentially dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills which may impact the school day on Tuesday, January 16. We will update families as appropriate over the holiday weekend.

Again, all CCSD21 schools are closed to in-person learning and will engage in an E-learning day tomorrow, Friday, January 12, 2024.

Please stay safe and warm during tomorrow and over the holiday weekend.

Respectfully,

Dr. Michael Connolly

Superintendent
