Topic: Updates

As the 2020-2021 school year begins at a distance, we will have new options for CCSD21 students to access our food service program.

Meal distribution will continue daily under the rules and regulations of the Illinois State Board of Education and the United States Department of Agriculture. All CCSD21 students may receive a breakfast and/or lunch, either at full price, at a reduced price, or free.

Students eligible for free meals:

  • Students at schools meeting the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) requirements: Holmes, London, Field, Frost, Kilmer, Tarkington, Twain, and Whitman,
  • Students in pre-kindergarten at any CCSD21 school,
  • Students who have applied for and received free lunch status,or
  • Students who have letters from CCSD21 confirming they are directly certified with the Illinois State Board of Education

Students eligible for reduced-price meals:

  • Students who have applied for and received reduced-price lunch status

All students, regardless of their qualification for a free, reduced-price, or paid meal will need to provide their name and student ID number to access meals.

Supervision program

Students accepted into the CCSD21 supervision program can receive breakfast and/or lunch at their assigned middle school supervision site.

School “curbside” pick-up

All 13 CCSD21 school sites will offer “curbside” outdoor pick-up of breakfast and/or lunch meals on school days, between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Food service at CCSD21 schools begins on Thursday, August 20. The child does not need to be present at the CCSD21 school to pick up a meal(s), but the individual receiving the meal(s) must provide the student’s ID number.

Bus route meal service

Beginning Monday, August 31, bus routes will run through District 21 to make meals more accessible to CCSD21 families. Bus routes and estimated arrival times (within the 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM window) will be communicated to families in the coming days. The child does not need to be present at the bus stop to pick up a meal(s), but the individual receiving the meal(s) must provide the student’s ID number.

Meal costs

The cost of a full-price breakfast is $1.30 and a reduced-price breakfast is $0.30. The cost of a full-price lunch is $2.85 and a reduced-price lunch is $0.40. Funds can be added to a student’s MyMealtime account online or by bringing cash or a check to any school. Cash, check, or card payments will not be accepted at pick-up sites.
