Parent Portal – Assignment weighting

Teachers are encouraged to enter all assignments in to the Gradebook using points as the basis for the assignment. The point value of each assignment in the PowerTeacher Gradebook based is typically based on two factors:

• the importance of the concepts, content, and/or skills being assessed
• the relative amount of instructional time spent on learning the concepts, content, and/or skills

Determining point values for assignments, or “assignment weighting,” differs between content-area assessments using points and Learner Quality assessments.

Assignment weighting for content-area assignments is very simple–the more points that the assignment is worth, the more heavily it factors in the overall grade for the trimester.
